The Pitch Ditch your pull-cable and lifeless antique starter.  If it has not died already, it's just a matter of time. And aren't you tired of adjusting that pull cable so that the starter energizes only at the very end of the pulling motion?  Sky-Tec ST2 starters are proven, durable and provide much quicker rotation for easier, effortless starts.  ST2 starters feature no-maintenance, self-resetting kickback protection. The Sky-Tec ST2 starter replaces both the old, antique heavyweight starter AND the continuous running sprag clutch assembly on smaller CMI engines.  Reduces weight by 6-8 pounds and eliminates the possibility of the continuously running sprag clutch components failing in the engine oil bath (that's a bad day).  The ST2 provides faster starts, lighter weight, reliability & peace of mind. The ST3 is the lightest starter adapter friendly starter available.  Capable of cranking even the largest Continental engines on 24 volts, the ST3 offers the best balance of light weight, torque, starter adapter protection and proven reliability.  The ST3 is also the perfect starting solution for 12 volt aircraft with smaller bore continental 6-cylinder engines.  PMA certified.  Customer proven. The ST4 is the newest member of the Sky-Tec Continental starter line designed to minimize weight while providing additional torque for larger bore Continental engines.  The proven centrifugal release clutch from the ST3 is combined with the higher torque motor of the ST5 to provide a light weight, high torque, starter adapter friendly starter perfect for both 12 volt and 24 volt 470-powered aircraft.   The ST5 offers Sky-Tec best power and durability of the Continental starter line.  At just 9.4 lbs., the ST5 shaves eight to nine pounds most large bore continental engines.  The ST5's side-mounted solenoid can be clocked to clear any nearby-mounted engine accessories and provides safe, instant release of the Continental starter adapter wrap spring.

The C12ST2/S is most commonly sold in the KCST2 Conversion Kit to convert pull-start C85-12 through O-300-C engines to push-button.

 

The KCST2 Conversion Kit includes the C12ST2/S starter, push-to-start button, placard, wiring and the STC instructions for performing the engine & airframe conversions.

The C12ST2 is the ideal replacement starter for factory key-start O-200 & O-300 engines.

 

Recommended for Continental factory key-start engines (commonly O-200-C 

through O-300-C) - Installation does not require removal of factory needle bearing.

The ST3 is Continental's factory OE starter on all new 24V Continental 520 and 550 engines due to its extreme light weight. 

 

The ST3 is also ideal for all 

12V or 24V O-300-D and IO-360 Continental engines.

The all new ST4 merges the extremely durability and high torque motor of the ST5 motor combined with the proven lightweight clutch of the ST3 making it safe for all Continental starter adapters.

 

Recommended for 12V and 24V Continental 470-series engines.

The ST5 offers extreme duty cycle and very high torque.

 

Safe for all Continental starter adapters.

Ahhh, the amazing Mis-Information Super Highway...  

 

Sky-Tec developed the ST3, ST4, and ST5 starters to satiate customers who may be  concerned their particular TCM starter adapter may not be completely compatible with the previous generation permanent magnet starter motors (often stamped, "Slovenia" or "Iskra."

 

Many of customers of those starters have experienced repeated starter adapter failures and are seeking a more reliable and starter-adapter-friendly design.  Only Sky-Tec provides adapter-safe engagement and immediate release of the sensitive Continental starter adapter wrap spring.

 

The ST3, ST4 and ST5 starters each utilize a powerful permanent magnet motor, but we also incorporate unique methods of releasing the engagement ensuring there is minimal drag on the starter adapter input shaft after power has been released the starter. In fact, no other starter releases the starter adapter wrap spring faster and more assuredly than Sky-Tec starters.

 

Sky-Tec is confident you will find the ST3, ST4 and ST5 starters each provide many years of reliable service for all types of TCM starter adapters.
