| Description |
The
world's #1 selling
piston aircraft engine starter is now also the world's TOUGHEST!
Features an improved, high-torque, extended cranking
(/ec models) wound field motor nearly incapable of damage
from overcranking. Its light weight (of course) - only 9.4
lbs. - and advanced
design is capable of replacing nearly all original
equipment as well as certified replacement starters on
non-geared Lycoming engine-powered aircraft*. Now factory
OEM on most aircraft manufacturers' engines.
* Will not fit newer C206 (those take a factory OEM Sky-Tec 149-24PM) or any
B60 aircraft (those take a Sky-Tec 149-24HT).
|
The
original High-Torque is where it all started with
Sky-Tec. Constant improvements for more than
twenty years have resulted in the latest improvement: an
improved, high-torque, extended cranking (/ec
models)
wound field motor nearly incapable of damage from overcranking.
It's the perfect solution for helicopter,
bush plane and charter operations requiring a rugged
design, maximum reliability & service life.
Designed to spin the prop twice as fast during start, the
Original High-Torque features an environmentally sealed
case, rugged all metal gears and steel ball bearings, a
heavy-duty drive and rugged field-wound motor. |
The
product synonymous with the Sky-Tec name, The Original Flyweight™
is now the lightest toughweight in the business.
With a newly improved strontium-fortified beefed up mount
casting, the LS and PM model starters are not only the
best value in Lycoming
replacement starters, they continue to be our mo st popular
starter models as well. Hi-torque, permanent magnet motors
provide ultra light weigh, durable reliability, unmatched performance,
and a ten pound weight savings over
stock starters. Twice as fast as old, heavyweight OEM
starters, Sky-Tec LS and PM starters make for faster and easier engine starts -
especially improving hot engine start performance. |

Installation Instructions for all Sky-Tec Starters |
The new High-Torque Inline starter is
the recommended starter for just about any flat, non-geared
Lycoming piston engine application. Order the new
SuperDuty NL/ec version for 24 volt aircraft or the #1 selling
NL for 12 volt aircraft. Especially easy to fit for short-wing
Pipers, retractable Cessnas, helicopters, rugged operations
and harsh environments or applications with minimal clearance in
front of and around the starter. /ec starters have
been independently tested to repeated demonstrate over seven
minutes of combined cranking in a nine minute period! Shear pin
protected against kickback.
The LS/PM models are the flagship of the
Sky-Tec product family. They are identical to each other
in composition and performance, however LS models have the solenoid at the 2:30
o’clock position (as viewed from the front) and the PM models
have the solenoid at the 7:30 position.
Select the right model for your aircraft based on the location
of accessories around your starter using the fit
guide. When unsure, purchase the High-Torque Inline
starter - it WILL fit!
The time-tested HT Model continues to be a top
seller in applications needing additional ruggedness,
performance and reliability. It has also been improved
with both the /ec SuperDuty motor system as well as tougher,
beefier mount castings for maximum performance in the toughest
applications. The noseless design makes it a
good fit for many tight cowling applications and its performance
makes it the original starter of choice for large engine
applications (Lycoming 720 series-powered aircraft). The
HT's performance characteristics are nearly identical to those
of the High-Torque Inline listed in the chart above.
Our Lycoming
starters also feature an integrated starter solenoid for
homebuilt applications not wishing to install a separate
firewall solenoid. Click
here for details.
LS/PM models weigh 8.25 lbs and HT models weigh
8.5
lbs. All NL high-torque
inline models weigh 9.4 lbs.
